Unibet Pro Lecomte Quentin Says King’s is “The Best Casino in Europe”
One of the most complete players from the French poker scene, Unibet Poker genius Lecomte Quentin first stood out as truly newsworthy in 2013, the moment when he turned into his nation’s first pro player to ever win the Unibet Open Main Event.
In Czech Republic, at King’s Casino, Lecomte played in the 2nd beginning flight of the 2015 PokerNews Cup, and finished quite rapidly as his stack got slowly eaten up by opponents.
“The competition went very well till the end of the day,” said Lecomte. “With 1.500/3.000 blinds, I had around 50.000 cash when somebody opened for 6.000 and I pushed from the button. Too terrible my rival had and a 3rd offered him the decisive set.
“I have to be honest, I actually enjoyed PokerNews Cup very much, even if the table draw usually becomes a very essential factor – with this diverse field. The first table I played at was good, for I encountered very bad gamblers who helped me grow the stack rapidly. After that, I got moved to a table with a few great players. That’s when I moved a 3rd time to a good table again. I lost. Too bad, but that’s life.
“I remember that there were people in the PokerNews Cup who actually complained about the “unpredictability” of a few bad gamblers, but it is way better to play against bad and very bad players than against great ones like Fedor Holz and Daniel Negreanu, right?”
Well, Lecomte Quentin said he had a very positive experience in the cup, despite a negative result. “A very, very nice event, I must admit”, said Quentin. “I played against players from many countries during the weekend, and I was astonished to see that most of them were actually there to have fun. True, the 250-euro Main Event was not expensive, there was a huge prize pool set for 200,000 euros – and this was the trigger for most players.”
The King’s Casino cash games are quite famous, and Lecomte reflected on his long career as a poker professional while sitting down with PokerNews. He talked about the many dangers connected to a huge win, and about why King’s may be a game-changer for the world of poker in Europe.
“A Player Simply Can’t Win Every Time”
Quentin Lecomte entered the Hendon Mob live tournament got him winnings for almost $377,000 in very prestigious events like the World Poker Tour (WPT), the Italian Poker Tour, and the European Poker Tour (EPT). The young poker professional said his victory at the Unibet Poker Open in France, Cannes for 100,000 euros was probably the best result in his entire career.
“Winning such a prestigious and collosal event such as Unibet Poker Open has changed me in many ways. I’ve always strived to win a huge event so the title made me feel I’ve accomplished one of my strongest goals in the poker world”, Lecomte shared. “On top of everything, I won that title just a couple of months after signing my contract with Unibet. I have to say the timing was just perfect.”
“The win helped me become way more confident and changed me a lot. The next 6 months after that result, I was actually confident about my game. The problem is that everytime you win, you think you’re going to keep winning every hand.”
“After I won the Unibet Poker Open I actually felt I had to show the world how great I was. A truly stupid idea that was.”
Anywas, Lecomte was forced to realize that the line between confidence and over-confidence is very often way thinner than most people think.
“That big victory put a lot of pressure on me, as I felt I had to prove mine was not actually luck”, said Lecomte. “I wanted to win another Open or tournament, I wanted to show the world how good I was, and it was a stupid idea, because in poker you can’t win every time.”

Maybe I thought that I was more skilled than I actually was, and that lead me to some wrong decisions during following tournaments I was involved in after the Unibet Poker Open”.
“Players Like Daniel Negreanu Make Poker a Very Fun Game To Play”
“I learned my lesson in a very hard way”, said Lecomte. He started taking his position as a poker professional and ambassador for Unibet France way more responsibly and quickly became a leader in the Team Pro.
“First you realize that you’re very lucky when you sign a contract with a famous poker room in France”, admitted Lecomte. “5 years ago, it was quite easy to sign a contract – just some decent results and a name on the stage. Today, well, it’s a different thing”.
Lecomte seems to be aware of the high privilege he has by being a poker professional and by making a living doing something he truly loves, that’s why he shared a powerful commitment to strive to bring plenty of other people into this game and let everybody enjoy the wonderful game of poker.
“I actually try to be the best poker ambassador I can. It’s hard to do this, and to represent a poker room is to help players enjoy this game and to be nice to other gamblers every day. Even when you don’t win.” The French poker player dropped the name of Team PokerStars Pro in the interview twice in less than 5 minutes. PokerNews team asked Lecomte if “Kidpoker” is the one he looks up to. “I would not say he is the one that I admire most, but he is quite a great example for everybody. Looking at how he behaves while playing poker, you just want to be an ambassador like him. Well, I guess that if everybody played and behaved like him in poker, the game would suddenly become funnier to play.”
”Representing a room means helping people enjoy poker and being nice to other gamblers every single day”.
“Poker professionals ought to never forget that 90% of the people who play are in it to have lots of fun. If you let them have a very bad time, then they will not come back. That’s bad for all players. In addition to this, it is always a good idea to play in a very friendly environment, than in a serious tournament, when people seem to be silently plotting against all other gamblers. I seek to have fun.”
“Remember this, and you’ll see why Daniel Negreanu is a perfect example of a great ambassador”, continued Lecomte. “He behaves in a way that truly makes a big difference. His results are very important, and the way he makes people enjoy their time is more than that.”
King’s Cash Games Are Great If You Are After Easy Money
“I come from France, and I must say that things are way better here in Czech Republic, in Rozvadov”, said Lecomte about the King’s Casino. There’s plenty of action here and you don’t have to wait more than 15 minutes for a table. Only the special tables make you wait more. Well, that’s not how things work in France.”
The best cash games are not the only reason why he keeps coming back to the Czech Republic every time. “Except for the comfortable tables and chairs, the great soft drinks and food, I just like that people at King’s Casino do their very best to make you feel important.”
“This one is truly one of the best casinos in Europe right now. Things are different in other countries, where you get the treatment of a King only if you play roulette or slots.”
When asked to comment on the poker games and on how players are in them, the professional player smiled while saying that King’s Casino “is the perfect spor for cash game poker players. Everytime you come here during the weekend you will encounter gamblers who just want to have fun and grab a couple of drinks. Since they want to gamble and play, just imagine, the scenery is with easy money and plenty of soft tables. The perfect place.”
