RAWA as a part of the appropriations of 2018 FY

Online gambling is actively discussed between two groups of powerful and influential people in the United States. Huge business corporations that have an influence in the gambling industry take part in the war where the main question is – to legalize gambling or to accept it as a federal crime.

There is a name- Sheldon Adelson ,the mogul of the Las Vegas casino, he is usually mentioned when they speak about US IGaming. He was for the ban of online gambling at the federal level for a long time. This famous billionaire was behind the RAWA ( the Restoration of Americas Wire Act). Adelson tried to find adherents among legislators on the United States. A lot of lawmakers attempted to present RAWA but there was not any success.

Recent reports say that adherents of RAWA will make an effort to foist the legislative piece into the Legislature of the United States soon.

Charlie Dent , an opponent in the question of Online gambling, will add RAWA into the Appropriations of the coming 2018 Fiscal year. Lindsey Graham and Charlie Dent tried to act in such a way last year too, but the attempt was not successful, because there was not enough interest to this question. Making of laws is very unpredictable and it is uncertain, if a legislative piece will get necessary support.

There were some attempts to legalize the IGaming this year too , Illinois and Pennsylvania, two states that were for legalization of online gambling. They both need some additional sources of income. There was a proposition to get taxes from the gambling industry.

Demands of RAWA

Interstate Wire Act that was signed in 1961 says that all wagering and betting kinds of business that receive bets with the help of the wire communication are not legal. Later, all kinds of IGaming became illegal due to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that was signed in 2006. In 2011 it was explained that Wire act still works for the online sports betting, but doesn’t work for poker and online gaming. States had a possibility to make internet gambling legal if they had such a wish. RAWA will cancel the ruling of 2011.
