Licenses of Five British online casinos were reviewed
In the UK the licenses of 5 online casino operators are reviewed and the consequences can influence other participants of this market. This event might be a signal that the regulators are going to increase their supervision over the whole industry in general. Without any doubts, fair online gambling operators have nothing to worry about, but there are still some things to be considered.
The regulatory body stated that it had identified shortcomings not only in the fight against money laundering, but also in the provisions of social responsibility aimed at protecting problem players.
The commission notified 17 online casinos of the “serious nature” of its findings regarding their control over money laundering, countering the financing of terrorism and strong dependence on gambling.
The Commission stated, “We have identified a general lack of understanding of how the actions of criminals can affect business.”
She also stated that firms do not provide sufficient information about suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies, such as the National Crime Agency.
According to the Commission, online casinos prefer not to intervene, when customers show signs of strong dependence on gambling: “problem behavior has not caused a reaction” from companies. The Commission recommends improving measures to protect customers and prevent money laundering.

The Association for Remote Gambling stated, “Preventing the penetration of gambling crime is one of three objectives of licensing, and if the commission has identified shortcomings in this area, it must immediately take action.”
The fans of online gambling are worried about the possible consequences of these investigations. In general, the changes might be rather positive for the customers, as such an increased control can improve the quality and safety of online operators’ work and make them behave more ethically. So the majority of gamblers will only benefit from the situation.
Certainly, there are lots of online casinos which already behave themselves ethically and they will benefit too, as the regulators will help them in their fight with competitors, which are violating some rules.
