A Star studded casino night to raise money for the homeless

Support centers for homeless charity Crisis in London is the place where Jeremy Reeve has been spending holidays during the last 5 years.

But he acted a little bit differently this year, as he also raised money with the help of his business partners and friends. He managed to collect £1,153.25 for six weeks, organizing a star studded casino night at Barracuda Centre Grosvenor.

The managing director of PowerPackXL in Cambridge Mr Reeve from Ely explained: “I can’t believe we pulled it off. Within days of suggesting a charity night I had friends hitting their phones and Facebook calling in favours, offers of prizes, the response was overwhelming.”

It was possible to meet here the most prominent people in the TV and film industry, reality TV stars, the stars of Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor, singer and songwriter Angie Brown.

The lots at the charity auction comprised prizes from BMW in Cambridge, from the Blues and Royals Household Cavalry and a champagne dinner for 4 with Peter Stringfellow.

Mr Reeve commented: “It was a great atmosphere. Having a lot of singers there meant it turned into a bit of a karaoke night – but with a difference. It was a proper feel good night which helped a charity I feel very strongly about.”

Jeremy Reeve started his volunteering career for Crisis 5 years ago. The first two years he was in the center in Beckton and the following three in Hackney. Here the center operated from December 22 to 29, supplying the homeless with food, films on a large screen, medical aid, support and a listening ear.

“It is not just homeless who come along it is the vulnerable or those on very low incomes, these are people who genuinely have nothing, but are grateful for everything, the community spirit and atmosphere at these centers is beyond words. For me it gives Christmas meaning,” Jeremy urged.

He told that in the Hackney center, which is in East London, over 1,500 people could find hot food, fresh and warm clothes, medical support and, which is more important, the company, not to stay alone at Christmas.
