A great number of Lottery Millionaires appeared in 2016
According to the statistics revealed by the UK, 347 players have become millionaires in this country in 2016 thanks to lottery. This means that nearly every day a new millionaire appeared.
Lottery Latest Data
Lottery operator Camelot informed that the latest data issued prove that 2016 made more millionaires than 2015, as in the previous year there were 341 of them.
As it was reported by The Sun, checks for £1,000, 000 ($1.22 mln) or more were sent to players in 2016, and that totally comprises £862 mln ($1.06 billion).
These record data became a real surprise due to the fact that some changes to National Lottery have been introduced and that could potentially lead to public disagreement. The balls number was increased to 59 from 49. At the same time, the chance to win a jackpot decreased from 1 in 14mln to 1 in 45mln.
Andy Carter, senior adviser, commented that these were 12 months that broke the record, as there had never been so many millionaires before. The Lotto caused great changes in the lives of the people who won, as well as brought support to the various projects. He also thanked everybody who bought a ticket or scratchcard in 2016, because by this they have helped to win Olympic medals and to provide support for local communities.
Different winners – different attitude
Carol and David Martin from Scottish Borders as well as one more anonymous player shared their largest National Lottery jackpot of £66mln ($1.1 mln) on the 9th of January. The Davies family from Monmouth became the largest winner in 2016 and they shared their EuroMillions jackpot of £61mln ($74.96mln) this July.
On the contrary, an anonymous winner got the whole jackpot of £35 ($43.01mln) in April.

Who are the luckiest?
As to the luckiest professions this year, building profession gave way to lorry drivers and cabbies, as they won more than £1 million-plus prizes.
The third place is occupied by workers from sales and manufacturing, while teachers followed them.
The luckiest month in 2016 was September, as 53 players in all National Lotteries plus online games at GameStore and scratchcards, won their millions.
In total, about £36 billion ($44.24 billion) was given to various charities within the country.
