UK gambling regulations won’t touch Irish bookmakers
The UK four largest bookies have gathered together to self set a number of new advert regulations.
The set of new regulations placed by the UK government on the largest bookies won’t reach the shores of Ireland.
A spokesperson for Paddy Power in the talk with The Journalese commented, “As we know, there are now no intentions to introduce something in Ireland. The new regulations are built upon the current situation in the United Kingdom. This may not influence Ireland, as every territory has different advertisements.”
The new regulations will be self placed by such operators as Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Coral and William Hill and will work as regulators of how the companies promote themselves.
The bookies will impose the new regulations in two steps during the next half year.
From the beginning of the coming month the four operators will fulfill:
-A free-will ban on advertising registration proposals (that usually offer free bets and money bonuses) on TV before the watershed time 9 p.m.

-Giving 20% of shop window’s space to responsible gambling advertisements.
In January a special independent body, the Senet Group, will be created as a result of these measures. The independent Standards Commissioner will head this group.
Carl Leaver, the CEO of the Gala Coral Group, admitted in his statement on the regulations imposed, “I’m happy that my company is among the leaders on this topic. We have millions of fans that really enjoy our services and products. We are glad to provide people with the possibility to bet, as they have a right to do this. But we must also be responsible in our actions and help exposed people.”
As one of the steps to achieve this, the group is going to fund a main promoting campaign advertising responsible gambling.
At first this initiative will touch only four bookmakers that take part, but the rest UK operators are welcome to join this project.
