Air New Zealand integrates the Blockchain technology and how this will influence poker players
For travellers who are going to New Zealand, a large-scale partnership agreement between Air New Zealand and the non-profit Blockchain project Winding Tree has been announced this year. And among those travellers that benefit from this are the players of the World Series of Poker, who use ANZ quite often.
What are the benefits?
Rather often poker players face the necessity to buy last minute tickets due to some changes or ordinary laziness. They also need to rebook flights or even to cancel them.
Poker players even got used to cryptocurrency thanks to two main online poker rooms – CoinPoker and Virtue Poker- introduced recently. Alex Weldon has even written an article as to the future of crypto in poker.
And we are sure that the future is impossible without it, as the world wants to get rid of cash. There are even gossips that Sweden will be the first to do this. You can check this podcast by Freakonomics to get the idea why.
Therefore, it is quite possible that cryptocurrencies will rule the world and the world of poker in particular.
As poker player need to travel to a lot of live poker tournaments, Blockchain technology applied in the airline industry will be of great help.
Deal between Air New Zealand and Winding Tree
The firms announced a cooperation that will turn flights into more comfortable experience thanks to baggage security and an improved ticketing system, and many other airline services.

Many industry insiders see the power of Blockchain technology as a means of optimizing complex and often disturbed processes related to ticket sales and baggage transportation.
The main goal of such innovations is to get rid of intermediaries and enable companies to interact directly with service providers via the B2B platform of Winding Tree, which operates on the basis of the Blockchain Ethereum. Advantages are obvious to all interested parties – this is both an efficient and safe exchange of data, and a lower commission fee. Customers will also benefit from reducing transaction costs.
Air New Zealand is not the first airline to show interest in the blockchain. Most recently, the largest German air operator Lufthansa Group, together with Winding Tree, has begun developing applications for travelling on the Blockchain. The aim of the cooperation was the expansion of the travel market with the help of Blockchain and cryptographic tokens called Lif (download the white paper here).
In July, the Russian airline S7 announced the use of the Ethereum platform for the issuance of air tickets, while Air France announced last month that it is exploring technology to track work processes in its aircraft maintenance systems.
So the future belongs to cryptocurrencies; read this when you have any doubts about this.
